sunroof button requires ignition to work?
With every other BMW I've owned, after shutting the engine off, the power windows + power sunroof switches remain usable until a door has been opened.
I noticed on my e90 that once I remove the key the windows will still function, but the sunroof is locked. Even if I put the key into the slot (ACC) it will still not work, I have to press the start engine button without the clutch depressed to enable the ignition----only then does the sunroof switch work. Are they all like like, any specific reason why? I have an early (2005) build 06 325i. I have already enabled the key to close the windows/sunroof/mirrors which works fine---but sometimes if I forget that roof open I just want to close it before hopping out of the car. ideas? |

That’s normal. If you don’t want to start the car to close the sunroof, take the key out of your fob and put it in the driver’s door lock. Hold it in the lock position and it will close the sunroof and windows (and fold in your mirrors IIRC).

Get someone to code in closing windows/sunroof with keyfob. It's one of the most commonly requested features. You just hold the lock button and everything closes.

Thanks for the replies. As my original post states, I've already coded my key to enable closing windows/doors/mirrors with the keyfob. Would like to be able to control the sunroof before hopping out of the car. Not sure I understand why BMW disabled this on the e90's, maybe safety reasons.
