iPod FIX for MAC Users >>>>>

After being frustrated for 3 days because I spent $249 on a new 30gb iPod just to keep in my BMW and it wasn't working, I figured it out.

If you have a Mac, you have to do this.

Plug your iPod into a PC (wear rubber gloves so the dang PC doesn't infect you with some unknown illness). It will say "iTunes needs to reformat... ect" Let it erase and reformat you iPod to FAT32. After it reformats plug your now pissed off and disgusted iPod (tell it you're sorry) BACK into your Mac. It will say iTunes needs to erase and sync with this computer. Let it do that. Now put all your music FROM your mac on your newly FAT32 formatted iPod and go jam out in your Bimmer :rocks: You ONLY need the stock iPod apple white cable. Give it a few minutes to load all the artist and playlist information. If you're impatient it will come up with random "FGEW GIVW ITLL" for all the songs. After a few minutes click on the "USB (whatever your ipod name is)" and you'll see "Playlist Artist Album Genre"

If this information is old news I'm SOO sorry But I couldn't find anything clear and everyone thinks the reason it's not working is because they're not using the BMW USB/Audio cable.. which you DON'T NEED!

I am waiting to take delivery of my 335i coupe with 6FL option, so I can't test this. But are you saying I have to format my iPod in FAT32 even to make make it work with the 6FL cable.... or is FAT32 just needed if I only want to use a USB cable?

I'm a Mac user too, have been since OS 4 but always only for my personal needs. It's true that we love our shite.

since i'm in I.T. people always come to me with their computer problems. well, I only have solutions for Windows when i get paid for my time. for everyone else, i'll only lend a hand when it's on a Mac. yes, i'm an elitist an i LOVE it

these days, I have a Mac Pro and a few generic Pentium and Xeon computers running OS 10.

Only if you want to use your ipod with your BMW with the standard ipod usb cable. The BMW will only read a Fat32 file system.

The cavat to this is that if you've got any purchased iTunes music store music on your iPod, the above mechanism wont work .. and you would need to use the BMW 6FL cable.

People get excited about Macs because you feel like you're in a club. It's a club where when you join you feel like your eyes have been opened to something you've never seen.. how a computer really should run.

Got it... thanks. My CA already has the cable waiting for me, so this should not be an issue.

Everything sounds good until you look at the price tag.
