Driving cold

What is a good temp that I shouldn\'t be worried to stop on it? 2008 335i sedan.

I don't understand the OP's question. Given the limited information, GAME's response seems appropriate.

If you mean "step" on it? I wait until I start seeing a reading and then I give it the gas.

I wait til the oil level is showing, because I don't have a temp gauge.

I always wait until 210.

Don't forget to give the driveline time to warm up too before stepping on it after a cold start.

160+ on the oil temp gauge if you have one. Oil heats much slower the water so I would wait till the water is warmed up say 200+

Can someone explain why the oil has to be that hot (160+) in order to effectively operate? I've seen this number posted many times, but never with an explanation.

+1 Think about this..the JB4 locks itself out till the oil is at 160+. Turbo bearings are not something to fool with just to hit the go pedal a few minutes early.
