iPod Mystery

I have an 80gb iPod I tried and it wouldn't connect in my 335i 6FL USB plug. So I tried my friends 4gb Nano and it worked fine. I so buy a new 30gb iPod because i wanted one dedicated to my car.. and IT'S NOT WORKING. It just sits there on "Do Not Disconnect" and it never loads in the iDrive!

I have a Mac.. there shouldn't be any compatibility issues with a mac formatted iPod right? Whats going on

How long is ..."never loads in the iDrive"...? It only takes 10 secs for my 8GB iPod to load with my iPod adapter......but close to 40 or 45 secs for my 30GB to load. May sure you are giving it enough time. And BTW, mine are Mac formated ....afterall, once you go Mac you'll never go back!

I am in the market for a new computer. All I haved ever owned are dell's. It seems like everybody that owns a Mac really likes them. I love all the apple products but I am nervous to switch comps. Will I have a hard time adjusting?

If you have a brain, it will take you less then a week.

If you're computer literate it will take you about 5 days.

If you would call yourself an advanced computer user, it would take about 3

If you are a computer expert, you're already using one now.

For you to figure out all the fun little details and shortcuts, it'll take 1 year.

I'll start you off on a good one: Control + Apple + d with your cursor over a word.

Are you using the 6FL factory iPod interface?
I thought I remembered seeing another thread about some difficulty with the 6FL and Mac formatted iPods. I hope not...

Heli...was your friends Nano formatted with a Mac???

Just doesn't seem to make sense that formating an Apple product with an Apple computer would lend it useless with an option built solely for the iPod..

I also have an 80GB iPod and it did take a while to load using the 6FL adapter cable on my 335i E93. The "Do Not Disconnect" message stays displayed as long as the iPod is plugged into the car, so it is not an error message. Guess you must have a lot of tunes on the iPod being downloaded

I trust you actually tried using the radio with the Aux input selected

Do you have to use the cable that came with the car??? Cause I don't know if they gave me one. I've been trying to use the apple USB cable.

major ipod issues

I have the 8gb nano and a brand new 335i coupe. When I plug it in, I am missing a bunch of songs to start with, and then the majority of songs on there are labeled as 4 letter codes. Such as:

afke
ifda
efig
edfm
gtte
wqwe
mdef

They make no sense whatsoever and like I said...am still missing a bunch of songs.

Any ideas? Does this happen to anyone else?
