"correct factor", "change factor" in hidden menu, what is it?

Hello, I found this option in hidden menu, what is it?

How to get to hidden menu?
1. Hold down the odometer reset button and turn the ignition on by pushing start/stop button.
2. Release the odometer reset button, and you should see a menu of 4 items on the dashboard. From here on, use the odo-reset button to advance to the next entry through a short press, and to select through a long press.
3. Choose the one that says Unlock through the above, which will take you to a passkey screen. Your passkey is the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN. Increment the two-digit number until you get to it, and with the long press of the odo button, select it.

Maybe it should be in "Engine, Transmission, Exhaust, Drivetrain, ECU Software Modifications ".
But now, everyone knows how to get to hidden menu

It's to correct any fuel consumption issue spec. to the engine.

If you google ... correct + change factor + BMW ... you will get a bunch of hits that explains it.

I would not touch or play with it.

I can't find anything, what is it exactly? What happens if I set 1005, 1500 or 9000?
I don't play with it, it's why I asked .

My MPG shown was about 4% higher than actual. Made an adjustment to the factor and refilled my tank. Seems like it works as noted. We'll see.

After my initial correction, my last tank nearly matched perfectly (28.2 MPG calculated, 28.5 shown on the trip computer).

HELP!

I may have accidently "fat fingered" the fuel consumption correction factor on ky 2011 335d, and now the fuel economy registered on both avg consumption and the instant log gauge seem to be reading terribly low... Can someone please provide what their 335d correction factor is, so I can at least have a baseline to reset mine to? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure about a 3'series, but I thought the factory/default value was 1000.

Thanks SNJ! I reset it to 1000, and it seems to be reading a lot more accurately. I'll adjust from here, after I have a chance to hand calculate.
