keep an eye on your mpg

I normally get about 400 miles to a tank. I recently replaced my run-crap tires to non run-crap tires and I also just so happened to notice that I was only getting about 350 miles a tank or so. I thought this was due to the new tires being non run-flats and so I added air and that didn't help. Then my car started acting up and I thought it was the hpfp becuase I got the reduced power notice but I also got the dsc malfunction. (you can search for a recent thread of mine for all of the details) After the dealer fixed it, my miles per tank is back to about 400 miles a tank.

So a word of warning. If you notice your mileage decreasing, I would say to be prepared for some engine troubles, at least with regards to the injectors or dme as was the case for my car.

My commute to work is 30 miles each way but I actually do get pretty good traffic. I live in San Diego but most of the 30 miles each way is on the freeway and not city streets. My current trip computer says my avg speed is about 42 mph and my average mpg is about 25.2.

other than the usual maintenance items to make sure everything is in tip top shape, I would suggest making sure your tires are properly inflated. That's an easy way to get 1-2 mpg more.

Wait. You're running E85 in your E9x? Did you prep the engine to run on E85?

If not say good by to all your gaskets, hoses, and seals.

ROFL

If you see his mod list he can handle fueling with E85.

And no, modern cars don't magically melt because of E85.

That said, don't try running it unless you have the piggyback and injectors to handle the extra 30% of fuel needed (roughly) to do it. Some wonderful gains to be had from E85.
