Is it possible to replace roof rails? Mine are very worn and the black has worn in some sport and the metal under is exposed.

Yea I had to replace mine because I forgot I took it off and left it on top of the car.

It was around $80 from tischer.

EDIT: Unpainted. You need to paint them. I know, sucks for such a small piece. I vinyled mine.

Yes the just clip on. Open one of the access covers and pull it off the roof. Once you get the new ones of course....

getbmwparts.com

Paint will depend on your local shop. I can't imagine it being more than $200 for both sides.

Since it's black, this is is probably one of the only things I would just spray paint myself.

If you're going to spray them yourself, I wouldn't even buy new rails.

Just sand the ones you have down. Get all the paint off. Prime and paint, then clear.

If you don't mind matte, you can also plasti dip as well.

Yea get a thin flat head and start at the back of the car. Use the windshield seal as leverage and pry up.

You'll most likely break a clip or 2 but once the first 2 clips are up, you can pull the rail back a few inches and then it should release, allowing you to lift it up.

If you break the clips at either end of the rail, I would just swap the clips in the middle to the ends.

I watched a buddy of mine take his off to wrap his roof and it took him about 3 minutes.
