Key not working properly.....not charging

I have two keys for my 335, but the main one I use does not seem to be holding a charge even though I have it in the ignition most of the time I drive.

Is there anything the dealer can do to charge it up or is it on it's way out?

TIA

Have you got comfort access where you need to change the battery in the key?

Do you have Comfort Access? I might be wrong, but I don't think the keys with Comfort Access charge.

We posted at the same time.

If it's a CA key fob, you need to change one battery. There should be a battery door on the back of your key fob. I believe the battery you need to buy is a 2032 lithium button coin cell battery and it can be purchased over the counter.

Nope, only non-CA key fobs charge. I'm pretty sure you can get that battery at Walmart or something.

My dealer told me the same thing.

Some CAs don't read all that stuff BMW sends them or pay attention in the BMW classes.

The other thing the CA told me was that I was shifting gears all wrong. I have >190k on the original clutch of my other car. Dumbasses.

As the usual lifespan of the CR2032 battery seems to be about 2~3 years, you should probably replace the batteries in both fobs.

Apparently, some BMW dealers were a bit slow to get the word that the CA batteries don't recharge. But it is clearly pointed out in the owner's manual.
