Hello all,

Does anyone know what phones BMW is working on? I have a treo700wx and I know it doesnt work in my 07' X3. You can use it for calls, but no phonebook.

I am ordering my 328 coupe this weekend, and Im not 100% on ordering the Bluetooth...

i believe our 3 series bluetooth does not like the Treos. I can use my treo only to make phone calls but can't access my address book and other features. Do a : for bluetooth and there are a few threads on here about what phones are comfortable. Sorry, i am too lazy to do the search for you.

Hello all- I've been reading the boards for quite some time but finally took delivery of my car this past weekend. After reading this about the Treo 700wx - http://bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205474 -

I downloaded the software from http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm to my Treo 700w from Verizon. The entire phonebook loaded perfectly (not just my speed dials! My 335i is an April production and presumably has progman 25.1.1 since RTTI and VC work without a problem so far. Best $14.95 I've spent in a long time. You can download a 30 day trial version for free. Oh, and caller ID actually displays the current caller now, not the previous!

I have the 700wx from Verizon and it has its issues.

To get the phone numbers to display in your iDrive, you must first assign speed dial numbers to those people you want displayed.

Have you tried the download from JETware? I had the exact same issues as you before the download and so did the user on bimmerfest who has a wx. I highly recommend the download - it's a free trial. Oh, and i do have iDrive.

I'm wondering if it solves some other issues I have. Sometimes when two people call at the same time and I attempt to switch call waiting, it messes up the bluetooth function of the car. At other times, it won't let me end a call. The iDrive function just appears to hang onto the call, despite turning my cell phone off, disengaging Bluetooth (either from the phone or iDrive menu). The only thing that solves this is to take the battery manually out of the cell phone.

It only stores favorites, or speed dials. I have a 700p, and it puts up all of my contacts in my "favorites" section which is limited to about 50.


Things are not that much better with other Bluetooth devices, so it's not the worst, but certainly not near the best.

I haven't used it enough to know if it will correct the problem (actually I haven't even experienced it - less than 100 miles on the car), but in the advanced settings of the download there is an option that addresses this issue. I don't know if it addresses it specifically for BMW though. The 'Installation' page on JETware gives more detail about this option and gives a clearer picture as to the functions it adds. Good luck with it!

As far as I know, JETware addresses many of the bluetooth shortcomings of the 700w and 700wx versions, but not the 700p. It may be worth contacting them to see if they have a program in the works for the palm based units.

I tried the fix and it works in my X3 perfectly! My wife is super happy. (Its her car)

So now Im quite thankfull I ordered the bluetooth on my 328i coupe. It will be here in July!!!

Unfortunately, the jetware app doesn't solve that particular problem. I've had that happen once or twice before and after installing jetware and you still get the lockup on the idrive. Usually, if you disconnect the BT on idrive and wait a minute or two, it eventually figures out what's going on. No need to take out the phone battery.

Having the signal strength meter and full phonebook for my treo 700w is completely worth it. In addition, if you're feeling cheap, you can actually still use the shareware version beyond the 30-day period. Jetware is definitely the best piece of software I have come across since I got my treo!!! :rocks:

An easier and largely undocumented way is to check the 'CarKit' category for the contacts you want loaded into iDrive.

To do this, open the contact in question on the Treo and select Edit. Scroll down to the Categories section and select it to bring up the checklist of potential categories. Find the 'CarKit' item and check it.

At the next sync, all CarKit items will be synced in addition to any speed dials. I've removed all speed dials (don't use them anyway) and gone the CarKit route. The only caveat is that you must do this on the device and not in Outlook on your PC. The CarKit category doesn't show up there.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My e92 with bluetooth should be coming soon and I was reallly worried about the palm vs idrive issue but thanks to those who found a fix. MY PROBLEM now.. is that i have the palm software not windows.. so I'm going to have to call verizon and see if they can send me a windows one this time! Thanks again!!

I have figured it out. You need to upgrade the bluetooth stack (drivers) on your phone (A2DP Program for 700WX), then purchase the Jetware 1.3 blueooth program:

Install the driver first, then JetWare. I just purchased the new version of Jetware and it finally uploaded my entire phonebook! Success!

It's part of the Windows Mobile 5 OS on the Palm Treo 700wx, at least on my Verizon version. Don't know if a similar option exists on the Palm version.
