Is Keyless Entry Standard on new 328i?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a brand new 328i. However, I have a confusion on the keyless entry. Is it standard on these cars? In other words, is the most stripped version have the keyless entry, or do I need to have Convenience package for it? In the Bmwusa.com it does not list under standard options.

Thank you.

Keyless entry is standard on all BMW's. Comfort Access is an additional option.

It is a remote keyless entry system.

The Comfort Access option gives you a more advanced keyless proximity-based system that allows you to open the doors and start the car without having to use the key fob remote.

What? Post a picture of your key then. I haven't seen a BMW without keyless since the E36's. I don't believe you.

Yeah....I'm with you. The keyfobs are all the same for the 3's, so unless you don't understand keyless entry, I call BS. :P

"keyless entry" is just a remote with a lock, unlock button. you can gain entry to the car without using a "key" (you're using a remote).

"comfort access" is passive entry/exit/start. you don't have to take out a key or fob to open the doors or start the car.

Keyless entry is 100% for that car buddy. Best of luck!

Keyless entry is standard, but somehow I have a feeling that you're likely referring to "comfort access" (lock, unlock, start car without taking out keys) which is not standard.

Exactly. But (at least in my '07 manual), BMW confuses the issue by listing "Keyless opening and closing, refer to Comfort Access" in the index.

And of course there is a key, safely contained wthin the fob.

On my sisters new 528i no comfort access but you do not have to put the key in the slot just unlock with the remote and push the start button.

yeah the F10 5er (and looks like F30 will too?) has sort of "half" comfort access. which is stupid because you have to fish out the key fob to get into the car, then you have to either put it back into your pocket/purse or find somewhere on the dash/console to put the keys once you get in.

it should be all or nothing IMO...

But it may be preferable to the $1000 cost of CA on the 5er.
