Does your d do this?

I was washing the car one day when I noticed a whistling noise. It was coming from the engine but it was off and the key in my pocket. I opened the bonnet (or hood if you\'re American at home) and it was really rather loud! It seemed to be coming from the bottom right section of the engine but I haven\'t a fecking clue what it was!! The car hadn\'t been running for over 3 hours so the engine was only very mildly warm.
So I put the key in the slot and as I did, the whistling stopped. I took the key out and it began once more! Very odd - I haven\'t noticed it doing it since...

Garage List
2011 335d  [0.00]
These cars are constantly turning modules on and off. I've walked out into the garage to get things as long as 2 hours after driving the car and can hear things running, turning on and off.

Maybe the ECU cooler fan?

Haha yes the typical BMW moans and groans I am more than used to as we had a 520d from 2006-2009 and the current 330d 2009-2012. I have never known a car to make so much clunking and groaning and humming when off!! As I said though, I am acustomed to this now and this whistle is surely out of the ordinary... Because it was so loud, I'm sure it would be audible with the engine on. But then, when I commence ignition, it suddenly stops :S. Our cars are very much alive even after they're dead.
