M5 i-Drive button on e92

I just managed to get the beautiful aluminium (made by Bang&Olufsen) M5 i-Drive button to fit in my e92 330xi. It looks fabulous!

It was a bit of a pain to make it though.
Inside the "old" button (which is made out of plastic) there is a metal part that has to be taken out of the plastic part. I spent maybe one hour doing it, using screwwdrivers to push the plastic from the metal. When I got the metal part separated I just used superglue to fix the metal part inside the new M5 button. It fits nicely inside and just needed some glue.

Then I popped the button back onto the i-Drive base.
Looks beautiful against the brushed aluminium interior.

Tools needed: Two midsize screwdrivers.
Cost: $50 for the M5 button.

Best

Claus

Don't know about the e90, but the e92 is plastic. Even though it looks and feels like metal. I think it's the same with e92, even though it has a different design. Even the 5 series is plastic, but the M5 is aluminium all the way.

The voice button was eliminated starting with March 2007 production, as it's redundant given the voice button on the steering wheel.

I am in the US and I have voice and menu buttons on my E92 335i. Is this rare?
Is my car one of those that slipped through? I though that all e92's with i-drive up until recently had both buttons. I just noticed it recently that the newer e92's (with the 6 programable buttons) only have a menu button.

My car was completed on 9/8/2006
