e91 XM Shark fin integration
(I posted this in DIY -- but I'm thinking it might be better suited to this forum)
Has anybody integrated their XM portable unit into the shark fin in the e91. Before you say to search, realize this is an e91 and not a e90. It's my understanding that the e91 has a different harness that's located in the center of the trunk under the storage bucket instead of next to the CD player. If you have... -How did you remove the clips to get under the storage bin? -Which wire in the harness did you plug into? -How well does it work (compared to the mobile XM antenna that the units ship with)? |

Why not just get Sirius and wait for the merger. Should be happening any decade now....

Well the follow up on this is that in the 2007 e91s, it's not under the trunk bin floor but in where the CD changer would go. It's a pink plug, wrapped with a power looking plug. 20' gets you to the front, wire front to back or else you'll have slack. I went under the trunk floor, around the corner of the passenger side back seat, under the molding along the door rail, under the seat (and rails) where the carpet meets, back along the console, around the back to gain some stability in the wire and then up into the console. Reception is 3 out of 3 bars, something I don't get with the mobile antenna through the windshield. Coupled with a XM MyFi and a antenna adapter, it's pretty low bulk.

Where did you get this antenna adapter from? I am thinking of getting a pioneer inno and want to integrate it into the shark fin. |

The only thing I don't know is if the inno has a standard sat antenna input on the unit, I had to get a special adapter for my MyFi to use the antenna without the dock (less bulk and the battery lasts 4 hours). I'm guessing all the docks use the same antenna socket.
