Need fitment help - Tire size and offset.

Finally decided on the wheels I want to get and have some questions that I couldn’t answer through searching. I have settled on the VMR V701 Gunmetal in 18x8.5 all around (square setup). Currently on my stock setup I burned through the fronts (only after 10k miles, seems ridiculous to me), but the backs have a good amount of meat left (Bridgestone RE050 RFT 255x40 18). I would like to throw the rear re050s on the VMRs and get a set of 2 Hankook Ventus V12s in the same size, 255x40 18. I looked at tirerack to get specs on both tires. It looks like the Ventus has a section width of 10.2” while the RE has a 10”, and tread width is 8.7” on the Ventus and 9.1” on the RE. Is this going to be an issue? Also what offset VMRs would I need to get if I am running 255s all around? Will I have to use spacers to get the wheels flush? If so what size? I am on the BMW sport suspension, but might want to lower it at some point, so I am not looking for anything too aggressive in the offset. Any help would be much appreciated.

255/40R18 is pretty tall. Those who have gotten away with 255 width tires up front have been using 255/35R18. It is still an aggressive setup.

Would a 245/40 work on a 18x8.5 et 35 in the front with no rubbing? The following thread says a 245/40 works, but doesn't say on what offset:
