Retrofit bluetooth
Hi all,
Picked up my 57 reg 320d m sport saloon today and just wondering what it would take and cost to retrofit a bmw Bluetooth kit. Any ideas? Might have to put in a Parrot system if too costly, it's a shame not to use the built in steering wheel controls though. Also, assume folding mirrors aren't worth retrofitting vs cost either? Cheers in advance, Dave |

I just fitted a parrot ck3100 9which i already had) in the ashtray with a multican connector that allows me to use the steering wheel control and voice commands.
I did look at the Fiscon system which gives an almost OEM result, costs about £350 |

Think its just the standard BMW head unit. How can I tell? Wouldn't have a clue how to wire into the lighter.
Been to look at parrots today but halfords want £200 for one and the extra connections. Any ideas on how to do this on the cheap? |

I didn't have bluetooth so had separate kits fitted instead of retro BMW. Ck3100 is simple to use and small enough to hide control unit in ashtray or on console. Just had mine replaced for a bury 9060 which is larger LCD unit but is much better, can take 2 phones at once and has voice control. Not very good with wiring etc so had mine installed by avrmobiles - think they fit nationwide

Yeah, you need a mic, bluetooth antenna, a short smb to smb cable to hook the antenna to the module in the boot and around 6m of twin core mini shielded cable to hook the mic up.
Oh, and 4 pins for the mic socket and the module connector. You then simply code the car/radio to tell it you have bluetooth, and you are away. |

Hi all,
I have the USB/AUX interface with professional head unit so I believe that I am just missing a few parts to have BT activated in my car. Does anyone know how much BMW charge to set this up? Alternately are there any specialists who offer this service for a complet OEM install? I am considering my options for installing BT (OE or Fiscon). Thanks |

For those asking in the UK, I priced up a BT retrofit from BMW and they quoted me for parts to upgrade a bluetooth prep car to full BT would involve:
Basic Hands free kit - Bluetooth B84 64 0 443 734 £93.34 Telematics Control Unit (aka Charging Electroniccs) £405.81 £499.15 VAT £99.83 Total £598.98 And this is for parts only! The electronics box is the expensive bit not included in a prep'd car. God knows how much BMW would charge to fit it, but even they were advising me against it. It may be cheaper for an E90, but that blew me away so went for a Parrot MKi9100 and UNIKA to achieve as OEM a look and feel as possible. To fit bluetooth for under £200, you'll have to fit it yourself AND be very lucky on Ebay for the parts. The MKi, UNIKA and SOT I got was around £180 from EBay so it is possible. |

I too have a MKi9100 which I fitted myself. All working great, but I didnt opt for the UNIKA. Couldn't find it easily at the time. Would you recommend it? Does it make it work like OEM? How do you access things like BT Music Streaming? And once you have music playing do the "Up Down" buttons on the wheel skip tracks? And last question of all, I hear you do not need the live feed from the cig lighter with the UNIKA installed. If this is the case, when does the MKi9100 power on? reason for asking, I find I do not switch the engine off at long lights etc because it switches the MKi9100 off and then stops my music playing. Sorry for all the questions and the thread jack |

Yeah regular smb connector is fine, tight fit, but fine. You do need an antenna though. The pins are what you attach the wire to, to keep it in the mic and the mulf connector. Get the mic part up on screen at the dealer, and look at associated parts, the pins will show, they come with 6" of wire attached. Any shielded twin core is fine. |
