Advice on selling my car

I am seriously thinking of selling my 325i, but it seems like things are not moving as fast as I would like for them to. Any advice on how and/or wherer I should try to sell my car?

Thank you in advance

I would think Rockville since there's more disposible income closer to the beltway. Also try selling to local BMW dealerships and on AutoTrader.com.

Im trying to get as much as possible (27-28K), so if I cant sell it to a private owner, then I will try carmax.

CarMax nowadays wont give you much more than KBB, if that. You're better off selling it yourself, via cars.com, autotrader.com, carsdirect.com, etc.

First let me say, i'm not the type to who likes to sit around and kick the tires, bs, test drive, and chat with people about my car. What you see in the pictures and description is the vehicle you're coming to BUY!!! I tried ebay ($60+), autotrader, and craigslist. No one even offered me the amount that carmax did which was $30k. I had put it on ebay and the others for "buy-it now" $32k which was around kbb. Carmax was easy and quick, had my check in an hour, out the door and my way to my 335i.

Just remember, you have 7 days and/or about 300miles with the carmax offer. So be sure, you want to go that route BEFORE taking it in. In my case, i was tired of trying to sell and it worked out good for me.

^ I agree 100%. Carmax is the least hassle and very close to whatever KBB value is listed.

I had many people contact me about test drives, and taking my previous Acura to an Acura dealership to have it "looked at", but when you ask: "Will you buy it if everything checks out good?". Then, you get some less than straight answers. If you have the patience then do it, but if you are in a time crunch or don't want to deal with people's BS then Carmax is a worry free transaction. (KBB was $10,800, I got $10,000 for my RSX-S)

1 small correction is that you have 7 days, no limit on the miles, at least from the Rockville, MD store where I sold my car.

CarMax in Dulles offer was good for 7 days or 300 miles, too. We got two cars appraised there last year. One offer was about $1000 less than KBB, the other was about $500 more than KBB. Overall, a good experience. I'd go there again.

True...recently got a quote from Laurel Carmax on a 02 corvette...exact same offer the bmw dealership gave me. Note...I hate Laurel Carmax...go to the Rockville one, so many odd people about in Laurel these days. I saw some woman walking along aimlessly throughout the parking lot...around and around, shoulders slumped foward, hair matted, legs out front ....very strange expression on her face, looked like a zombie...stay the H away from Laurel.

Washington Post - good place to list a car. Your car also appears on Cars.com when you place an ad with WP.

Again, autotrader.com is a great place...seems a lot of people look there and that is the first place I thought of when trying to sell my old m3.
