Winter tires: Blizzaks WS60

Hi,

Need to buy some winter tires for my new 335xi. I looked on tirerack.com and they are $180 each...last year at this same time I bought them for my GLK and they were only $120 each...why are they so expensive now?

Not sure of last years prices but I'd assume simple supply and demand with a little inflation mixed in of course.

+1 Most tires have been going up in price worldwide.

Also keep in mind that it would be a completely different size and model of tire between a Mercedes GLK and an E90.

True, I didn't account for the model difference.

But still, at these prices it is almost the same cost as purchasing them from Costco or Canadian Tire up here in Canada.

Gary, in your opinion does the WS60 or the X-Ice Xi2 perform better for ice and snow?

I've had blizzaks on anolder Chevy and currently I have the X-Ice on our SUV.

Both are great. The thing with Blizzak I believe is possibly they are only half a winter tire, then when worn become all seasons?

I'm ordering X-Ice 2s from tiretrack btw for my 335i, with rims and TPMS.

The WS60 is a great winter tire but it is no longer latest Blizzak model (that would be the WS70). If given the choice between the WS70 and IX2 given what I know today I would lean towards the IX2 unless there is a lot of loose snow to deal with.
