HPF FMIC.. Owners chime in.

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on the HPF FMIC, as i feel its best fit for me and what i want.

I wanna hear from the owners, your experiences and performance input on it. Is it worth it or not.

It's a huge core and requires significant cutting. I recommend bumper removal despite what they say. They have the proper tools to modify the shroud without removing the bumper. My dremel wasn't cutting it. No pun intended.

Quality is top notch and my IATs are great.

Thanks for the input! I dont mind the cutting, i really like how well its built and that it uses the stock connections which makes it a breeze for install. I know i was reading some people were scared using the stock connections might cause leaks.

My wgdc is fine. No leaks. HPF also did a leak test video to show they can take a lot of pressure.

No doubt the HPF is nice, but if I'm about to start cutting anything I would just go for the real deal and go 7inch ETS.

Love mine, install was pretty easy - trimming wasn't bad, only took about 30 minutes, just the plastic front shroud, but I have a small airsaw that was easy to get in there - if you need to use a sawsall, the bumper will be in the way. Mine took about 1.5-2 hours to put in - piece of cake right after the downpipe install!

Indeed it is and only 5.75 tall....They are nearly identical in size.

HPF uses factory charge pipe and c clips while the ETS has larger Diameter silicon piping too.

I own one and recommend it. Alternatively I considered the ETS 7" since I did not mind cutting but I was sold on the use of the stock quick disconnects with the HPF. In the end.. who cares. Both are quality pieces.

Both are indeed nice pieces. It's up to the individual of what brand name they prefer

If you don't mind a little cutting, the HPF FMIC is nice. I've got one on my 135i and have nothing bad to say about it.

After you cut the shroud just buy about 15 inches of some boost hose and cut it in half and use the hose to cover up the trimmed areas. Makes for a nice neat install especially since the hose acts as a cover and masks the trimmed areas and also prevents it from messing with the fins when your fitting the intercooler in place!

Stock connectors are the only reason I don't like it, it's under 2 inches on the outlet I can't imagine how much back pressure it has comparing to other fmic's and the fact that it's wide it's not really good either, taller would be a better choice, I had HPF but I'm switching to AMS, I was just about to get the ETS 7 but it looks like it also has bigger pressure drop due to their fin pack style, so I'm pretty confused now with which one to go with but def. not going back to HPF unit.
