Adding Sirius

If a car was ordered with NAV/I-Drive, but without Satellite Radio...can Satellite Radio be added at the dealer???

Thanks in advance...

Sirius sends people out to do installations.
You basically buy a Car-Kit with Activation and call them up.

You can try checking the dealer too.

Are you sure that's how it works? I thought that it was a dealer install since you need OEM parts to do it and the car needs to be reprogrammed after the install iirc.

I'd want it to work through the I-Drive, like it would from the factory.

You can add it later if you have the pre-wiring for it. This might be standard now... when I got my '06 it was factory optional. Check to be sure...

FWIW - it's cheaper to get it installed at the factory if you have it in the budget.

Yes, you can still add Sirius...

I made the mistake of waiting too long and couldn't add NAV/I-Drive since my car was already being shipped from Germany

I then just added Sirius and cried a little bit...

Exactly...thats the point of the question. On my 2006, the Pre-Wiring was a $75 option. For 2007, on the e92's, I don't see it listed.

Already pre-wired for satellite and cd-changers...I don't think they'd waste money with a "pseudo" shark fin...

most likely, yes - but shop around for the module to see if you can get it at a better price

It will require coding when it's installed at the dealership, just so you know and I'm not sure if you get the free year you would have if you had ordered it with the car. It also can't be residualized in the lease if you lease.

Any reason you didn't order it?

I did order it, but with the delays at the factory, I ma not be able to wait to for the car I ordered.

I've located one currently on a ship and one currently on the ground that are very similar to what I ordered, but neither have Sat Radio and I really do want that.

The car on the ship now is Black Saph, I ordered Jet Black, but I was torn so that doesn't bother me. It's missing CA, and CA isnn't a big deal to me either.

Trying to negotiate for the car...

How bad are the delays? Getting the Sirius module will cost a lot more than with the vehicle.

CA is a great feature however - I would not get a car without it. Sounds unimportant and trivial - but it ain't.

The delays seem to be about 4 extra weeks.

My father has CA in his E90, I don't have CA my E90. Is it a plus, yes. Would it make/brake the car? I don't think so...

You buying from the same dealer the second time? He should try to give you a decent price on the install. Figure $500-600 or so.
