Burning oil
My car had the low oil indicator 3 months ago, I put in 2 quarts, then low oil again last week. I put in a couple of quarts again, took it in for servicing, and of course, SA says I have to wait till the indicator says its time for an oil change (7,000 more miles)
What kinda BS is this? Does BMW expect folks to come in every three months over the last 10,000 miles of a 15k interval just to pour in a couple quarts of oil into a dirty engine/filter? They recognize these cars burn oil but still keep the 15,000 mile oil change/indicator rule? Although I'm still under warranty, I've found a great shop which specializes in BMW's and is doing a 30,000 mile maintenance on the car including oil/filter change, top offs, brake pad adjustments/greasing, lube hinges, check suspension, etc. BMW warranty services are minimal and they're forcing me to take it elsewhere, while under warranty. This shop is doing more than I suspect BMW does during its service appointments. Thanks for hearing me vent. |

Once every three months? I needed a new quart every 800 miles until they replaced my oil filter housing gasket. Now I throw in a quart every three months or so...I'm just happy its not every month.
