Goodbye RSX.

This isn't a troll or a rant, it's more of an introduction. After seeing the DIY master list on here, I know I'll be posting more as I did with ClubRSX. I'm a amateur (mainly aesthetic) modder. I fucking loved my '02 Acura RSX Type S. 136k miles and not one mechanical issue other than wear and tear parts. That was until I heard a rattle in my engine. Now, with kids and a wife it's time for a grown up car. But after driving the TL and TSX and ZDX, it felt like I was driving a completely different brand. I felt home in a E90. So, I pulled my 12" woofers and set out looking for BMW. The first two dealers offered me 2k for her, to which I said, fuckouttahere. But after being offered $4 from a mom and pop shop with a clean '08 328i with 37k miles and navi/phone it was time. Test driving it into the stealership to get it "BMW certified" I realized it was time to say goodbye to my youth, my felony 130mph speeding ticket, my faded "look at me blue" paint, and my tired, cloudy tear drop headlights. So it's time to put this old dog down, share my mods with some half-broke hipster who will appreciate the LED lights which I custom-drilled and epoxy'ed into the headlights a good 5 years before Audi stole my flavor. And before I get too fuckin' sentimental over here, I'd like to thank everyone who's posted on these forums and shared their knowledge which I will soon begin absorbing into my new vehicle which, if I've made the right decision, will hopefully take me another 100k happy miles...

I didn't think you could CPO a car after you bought it. Nevermind the fact that you didn't buy it from a BMW dealer.

My very first car is an RSX...I'm an aesthetic modder like you also. I enjoyed the car...quite fast for a 4 cyclinder. I then stepped up to Acura TSX & then Lexus IS & finally to BMW e90. It took me a lot of cars to find my driving style. I never payoff any of my cars...but I will definitely keep the BMW. I only drive a 328i...but as long as it's a BMW...it's a pleasure to drive an ulitmate driving machine...

I liked the RSX when it first came out. A buddy of mine was/is a huge RSX buff but I never bought one. Congrats on the decision to switch to BMW, you won't regret it at all.

First car was an RSX and I loved it. Switched it out for a Celica which was also a lot of fun. Then went back to another RSX. Once I had family on the way I moved up to an IS250 which the wife still has. Nice car but it just wasn't as fun to drive and that led me to my 325i. This car is a blast to drive.
Congrats on the new purchase!

My RSX was a great car, never had any problems with it and it was an exhilarating drive at the time.

pics coming (never really took good pics have to dig later I'm at bounce u with the kids), but whew don't build it up too much! Lol many of my diy's were repair jobs. The biggest project I did was the stereo install.

Just drove home with my new car. Feels real good. As I did with my wife's Land Rover LR3 I took it to get the 3578 point inspection just to get the "faux-certified" approval. I dunno, probably a waste of money but it makes me feel better buying from a mom and pop shop...

That is a great idea and worth the money for the peace of mind.

sorry but this is all I got for today and doesn't show shit.. Can't see the leds in the headlights or the emblem, and this was before I put in the yellow fogs which I was never very fond of anyways... Back in the day ('02), all I could find was the tiny computer LEDs, nothing like the big bad ones they got now, but light blue. Damn, I woulda had tons of pics if I had sold her privately... I gotta go back to the dealer anyways, I left a cheap-o car seat in her. I'll take more pics. Again, nothing too special. My fav was the PS2 hooked up to the Boss headunit. I know I know... but yeah, that Boss, as PoS as it looked (could never get it mounted flush), worked great. Bluetooth / SD card / iPod / DVD / Backup cam / Sub outs.

Anyways, the RSX was by far the most responsive car I've ever personally driven. I can't tell you how many idiot drivers I barely nicked by thanks to this cars handling. One time in heavy rain, I avoided a (at least) three car pile up going well over 65... my adrenaline reaction afterwards was to laugh uncontrollably. I still to this day don't know how the fuck I avoided those cars. It must have felt close to how Nascar drivers in the middle of one of those clustercrashes. And then there was the time I spun out drunk on Natty Ice but still managed to keep it on the tarmac... Whew... Natty ice.. never again.

I had an RSX S also... awesome car. I had a chance to drive one last year, after not having been in one for several years. I was a little disappointed in some of the ergonomics and such but overall the car was still a blast. It was the perfect car for high school I think and the sound it made at full tilt was so awesome.

ahh vtech.. yesssss... not sure what you mean about ergonomics tho... interior design? I thought was way ahead of it's time and no other "ordinary" car had recaro-esque seats like those... I will definitely miss those...

So... I wonder if there WAS a 2012 RSX, what would be it's main competitor these days? (coupe, $25-30k, tuner-inspired) Perhaps that's why they discontinued it.. not much of a market for a luxury high school car?

The RSX is great and has more room in the hatch than some newer crossovers.

If anyone one has a clean one with no rice, hit me up. I need one ASAP.

The RSX was my second car after a civic ex. I got the type-s and although i loved the the looks and even modded it. (I'm usually not into modding, but got the CAI and exhaust) Loved the way it sounded. However, front end torque was just driving me up the wall. Everytime I pushed it in the beginning, every scion etc. was trying to race me. Ugh, I got sick of it. I made the huge jump to the 335i and my goodness, I missed my rsx for about 10 seconds after that.

One thing is that I never had one issue with the RSX in the three years I've had it. Built extremely well. The 335 has had a lot of stuff such as pumps, etc. But it was all
covered.

Well welcome.
