MPG!!??
Anyone else have a problem with the gas mileage on these cars?? Ive had a G8 GT which has a 6.0 V8 361 HP engine and that car probably wasted around the same or less fuel than this little 3 series engine. WTF! Is there something wrong or are these cars that bad on gas??

Seems like my old 95 E36 had better gas mileage than my E90.
I'm finding myself $60 at the pump every week. I drive to a local train stop, which is approx 2 miles, and take public transportation to work. |

It depends on how you drive and where you drive. I thought the same about my 2008 335xi auto until I took a long highway trip with it. City traffic its going to get anywhere from 15-19mpg. On the highway with my heavy 335xi auto, I recorded 30.9 mpg from a 140 mile trip. Not what its suppose to get accordind to the 2008 epa standards but on target with the same 2007 335xi sedan epa mpg. Also just checked all four tires and since it dropped 40-50 degrees since last checked, they were all down 4-5psi. That can hurt 1-2mpg.

Do you have an idea of what mileage you're returning? What is the nature of your driving (e.g. 50% city / 50% hwy)? These cars don't really get amazing gas mileage for their size (except for the 335, given its output, it's pretty efficient). Also, if I'm not mistaken, the GM small blocks have been very efficient for a while (given their size).

I find a HUGE difference in my MPG city versus highway.
Highway miles a pure joy at 30mpg. City miles for me are 19mpg

MPG on these cars isnt so great, i go about 50/50 myself and im averaging about 18. but from a full tank i only recorded about 260 total miles, which baffles me .
It also seems that every 2x i start my car, i lose about half a tick in my gauge too. |

It has a lot to do with the way you drive, this car has the potential of giving you excellent gas milage with a soft foot, however, heavy foot will take you back to the gas station much sooner. I have mostly back road / city commute with many stops and traffic lights and I can average 26-27 mpg with a soft foot (now that is impressive for a 380HP car) . However, with JB4 if/when I drive aggressively, I can end up with very low 20s, however, never gone below 20 mpg....

On a trip to Vegas we consistently got above EPA, 35-30mpg at 65-80mph respectively. City driving definitely drops it down to 22-24mpg

You may have an underlying problem! I typically get 29-35 mpg highway, 17-22 mpg city, and 14-19 mpg pushing the car. I think 335is epa mpg is the lowest for 3 series cars as well at 17/24 (for DCT transmission).

p.s. that picture was after about 2 hours of interstate driving. I tried to concentrate on the mpg meter. When I cycled my computer through to the mpg I saw that haha.
