Looking at buying a 335i
Hey guys, unfortunately someone hit my G37 and totaled it, so I am in the market for a new used car. I always loved the 335i so i'm pretty sure it will be my next car, but I wanted to get some info about what I should look for. What should I keep an eye out for when shopping for one?
I know that some 335i's have had issues with their fuel systems and oil coolers, what exactly should I be looking out for in regards to this? Also, I have read that when buying a used 335i try to avoid all 2007 models because they have a lot of bugs...is this true? Is this a good rule to follow? What kinda scares me about buying this car (and this is why I got the g37 previously) is the fact that almost all the 335i's for sale have RIGHT UNDER 50k miles....which is disturbing because I know their warranty ends at 50k. How cautious do I need to be regarding this? I appreciate any help you guys can give. |

You should be able to find some 07 and 08's with CPO warranties that are in good condition. I found 2 really nice 07's when I was looking, private party, that still had couple years left on warranty..

good question. I am not sure if they have updated the fuel pumps, but my wildest guess is YES. YOu can always pull the service/record history and find out. But otherwise, I haven't heard any issues beyond that.

There's no issues with my June build from 2007 that I've owned since new. If you get an early 2009 build you'll get the mid cycle face lift and the N54, but otherwise a 2007 or 2008 will both be the same, as long as it's after March 2007 when they made the oil cooler standard for both auto and manual. CPO will give you peace of mind with a warranty.

Had an 07 with a ton of problems. Fuel pump, window problems, door actuators, ac fan, service break icon warnings constantly, ect... Still loved that car though.
Have an 08 with a few problems, door actuators, head light fogged up, dash rattle. I love this car too and I think this one is faster ;-p. I would never buy one of these with out a warranty. My service center is great. I take my car in, get a BMW loaner car, and pick up my washed car the next day. The warranties on these cars are top notch in my book. In fact that is what really sold me on buying another 335. |

I would deff get one with a warranty! i just had my turbos replaced under warranty and they had to pay over 6k to do everything. as far as problems with 2007..i havent had any except turbos at 55k and a few HPFP (according to service record before i bought it) I also have the later 2007 with oil cooler. Luv my 335i!!!!! I say GET it and GET a warranty, you will be good to go!

I've had four fuel pumps, but I've always been under warranty. Still love the car. Whatever you buy, make sure you have the extended warranty and you'll be fine. The 335i engine is so smooth and powerful. You're gonna love it!
