No comfort access and started car without key..

Like the title said, somehow yesterday i discovered it by accident. I was able to drive around without having the key in the ignition and I do not have any sort of comfort access. I apologize if this is common knowledge, but for some they might find it cool...Heres what i did,

-Get in car and start it normally..
-Shut off car and remove key
-Press the start button once and you will hear a click
-Start car normally WITHOUT key in the slot (foot on the brake and press the start button)
-Tada...it runs. Toss your keys in your pocket.

Just remember when you get out you have to hit the start button again to obviously shut it off then i believe once again to shut off the electronics, because i had walked away and my dash and head unit was still lit up. Went and pressed the button again and it shut everything off.

interesting... O_o i think i read somewhere in the GENERAL forums about this... something like you have 5 seconds from the time you start the car, turn it off, take the key out, and start it again for it to work...

Old news, but why would you really want to do it? In my one car with CA, I put the key in the slot anyway because I hate stuff in my pockets while I am driving. In a car without CA, you're going to have to take your key back out of your pocket to lock it anyway. I'm trying to figure out why people seem impressed with this.

Yea i agree it is pretty pointless lol...other than my key chain lanyard hangs down and is annoying sometimes, but i could just take the blade out of the key to solve that..

While i agree with you that there is no point to this it was more or less "hey check this out kinda thing", and as you should know with your CA you dont have to take your key out to lock it...thats why they have the sensor on the top of the door handle that you tap to lock and unlock.

Becasue it's convenient in that you can leave your car running while you run into a quick mart or something. Instead of locking with the metal key, you can use the fob. I do this all the time (with the metal key) because I drive short distances and I think starting and stopping the car repeatedly isn't good.

But it's pointless in that you need to start the car, then turn it off, then turn it back on.

That's all I needed to change my mind and not think this is not a totally pointless "feature" .

Really? I will have to try it again? ..... hmmm I dont usually put my foot on the break when I start since I have the parking break engaged. Maybe this is the step I was missing.
