clutch pedal spring removal for non-M3 e9x?

So I stumbled upon this DIY from the M3 forums and I was wondering if this spring is only found in the e9x m3s.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195777

Thinking about doing it on my 07 328xi.

Is this spring found in the non-M3 E9X or not?

Yes, there is a spring there.
I liked it there though because it kept the pedal firmer.

It's hard to explain how a clutch feels between cars, but would you feel there is a significant difference? Would you remove it if you did a lot of city driving?
