E92 front seat release...

Picked up my 2006 E92 325i yesterday and am very happy with it but can't figure out how to release the front seats back into position once someone has got in the back.

I pull the handle and lean them forward but pulling the handle again doesn't seem to release them back into position. Pushing them hard releases them with a cracking noise & jolt, but this doesn't feel right.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Read the manual. My friend's brother had an e46 with manual seats and could not work certain movements until he read his manual.

OP is in England and he notes it's an E92 325 (which they got in 2006).

I've got a US 2007 E92. The manual doesn't say anything particular about returning the seatbacks, and does not say to pull the handle for return, only for putting forward. There's a catch/detent to hold them in the fully folded forward position, and you have to exert a little force to start them back past this catch. Mine make a crack/click noise but nothing dramatic. Maybe they just get stickier over time.
