Just took my car to BMW service. Awesome salesman and so what ever. Pretty much told me I need an alightnemnt but warranty doesn’t cover that. So he told me its $199.00Pls Tax
. Called another place, like tire shop, where I see cars go for flats, I see mercedes, bmw, ranges go there so im wondering I called them they told me $55.00. What should I do guys? Thanks

Hopefully this was the right topic.

Any reputable alignment shop should be able to work on your vehicle without a problem.

If you dont have active steering (which requires more steps) then any shop could do the alignment anywhere from 70-100. Just a bmw, nothing magical on the rack.

$200 is pretty cheap for a BMW dealer, but about twice what you need to pay.

It depends. I tried alignments at several tire shop chains until I finally had to get BMW to do the job. Worked out nicely in the end.

Also, make sure to ask what type of alignment rack they operate. One of the local indy shops I use has a Hunter HawkEye Laser which is one of the newest. IMHO, it seems like the indy shops have a more vested interest in having their service techs know the proper operation of their expensive machinery.

Firestone offers a "lifetime" alignment for $129. Had my car aligned there and now any time I feel like it I can have it re-aligned. Since we can't rotate tires on a staggered setup I take it in every 6 months to have it re-aligned... to prevent weird uneven tire wear. It's free after all.

I've had my car aligned at a shop twice and at the dealer once. The shop really messed it up the first time but I took it back and they aligned it better than the dealer did the sec. time around. So it really depends on the person performing the alignment cuz even the dealer can get it wrong.

I'm not too familiar with Queens, but in general I've found that shops that have the Road Force GSP9700 tend to have comparable alignment racks.

I would search for on TireRack for an installer, they sometimes list the equipment used, or this site:

http://www.gsp9700.com/search/findgsp9700.cfm

Read reviews, get referrals from the local forum.

I believe you need to have your car weighted down when conducting alignment. Which means few hounder pounds inside and a full tank of gas. Which is usually only done at BMW.
