I got my 06 330i

Hey all,
Well I picked it up last night driving this thing is awesome much better when it's your own instead of test drives but anyways I have some issues,
1. Car wouldn't lock or unlock, I figured out the issue from a post one here with the same issue fuse 56 and 57. Thanks e90post.
2. The BRAKE light is on, he said he put new front brakes in at a Nissan dealer. I'm not sure how to fix that.
3. The tire pressure light is on, he said they all check good. They are new non run flats.
4. The car has some decent side to side shake on the steering wheel from about 20-60 mph?

I had a pre inspection from the BMW dealer they said the car was good. The only issues they said should be addressed is
New back brakes in about 300 miles
New micro filter
New sway bar bushings they said they were worn.
Gt 670.00 to fix all that.
Well I'm not gunna pay that so here I am asking u guys what do ya think?
Thanks again for the support this site rocks. Will post picks when i wash it.

I don't have any answers for you but what I can say is that I sold my 330i about 5 months ago and it was a great car. Welcome to the forums.

congrats on getting the car.

2- see the manual about the brake light.
3- start car, in park, scroll through menu and reset the flat tire monitor. our cars dont have TPMS.
4- get your alignment checked, balance your wheels..
5- visually inspect all brakes/components to ensure proper wear characteristics. look for fluid leaks, etc.
6- screw the microfilter.
7- visually inspect sway bar bushings for wear. you can replace them on your own its easy as pie.

change the oil/filter and air filter if it needs it. best way to start out with a new (used) car. depending on mileage, you should consider a rear end fluid change as well.

good luck!

Could any dealer do an alignment? I have a ford, dodge,gm, and a Toyota dealer here in town nearest BMW is 90 miles. I guess I can throw it on a hoist and check out the bushings. The manual says if the brake light is on bring it to a dealer?

rotational speed difference. uses abs and traction control sensors. low tire is smaller and will spin faster.

set your tire pressure, then calibrate in menu.

2. The BRAKE light is on, he said he put new front brakes in at a Nissan dealer. I'm not sure how to fix that.

-Could be that the front break senor which is a small wire is worn down a light will come on the dash to let the driver know it is time for new brakes, if that is not replace was not replaced at the time when the brakes where replaced and or used the same senor again the light will continue to say on. Another option could be that the rear brakes have now worn down to the senor and the breaks and senor needs to be replaced.

3. The tire pressure light is on, he said they all check good. They are new non run flats.

- A few possibilities, First try and reset the TPM in the menu of the car control system (be it I-drive if you have it, or the cars computer which can be accessed by pressing the BC button on the turn signal with the car in park and running. One other problem could be that one of the TPM has failed on the tires, or when the new tires where installed they used regular rubber non-tpm valves on the wheels (I think that will show as an error on the OBC though not 100% sure).

4. The car has some decent side to side shake on the steering wheel from about 20-60 mph?

-First try and get the tires rebalanced if the issue still has a issue look into a front end alignment. You do not need to go to any specific dealer to have this done. Some indy shops (be it BMW or not) have alignment racks to adjust and do an alignment on the car.

good luck with the car!!

brake light could be low brake fluid, as brake pads wear down the piston extends further from the caliper, with enough travel the reservoir would drop enough to trigger the light.

pull the cover and check the reservoir.

Thanks for all the replies for all the nube questions but I have one more lol
Is it normal when ever I open any door there is a strange noise coming from the rear of the car? Sounds like the fuel pump priming or something? Thanks again I will post pics as soon as I get over this nasty cold and wash that bad boy. I still have to read the owners manual to figure out how to do all the said info above with the blinker buttons lol still learning

It could be that your brake light is on because despite having the front brakes recently done you actually still need new brakes in the back :-). Not sure how many miles left when the light comes on.

As far as front end shakes, check the tires for uneven wear and balance, check the wheels for bends, and do an alignment. I'd replace the sway bar bushings if I were you as they get really squeaky as they wear out and the handling won't be up to par with crap bushings. Assuming the tire pressure is set appropriately according to the door jamb, most likely the TPMS just needs to be reset.

Oh and congrats! Welcome to the 06 club.
