The 189 is 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear? If so the widest tire for the 8.5 is 255 I think.

I've run 235/40 and 265/35, but anymore than that and it seems they over flow the wheel.

Can't answer the XI question.

those specs are correct but what do you mean "the widest tire for the 8.5 is 255?" I know thats what it comes with im just looking to see if the 275s in the rear would be ok to run

You'll experience a "floating" sensation with those tire sizes on stock wheels. I would recommend sticking with 235 and 265 if the stock 189s are the wheels you'll be using.

hmm floating? Is this size within the 1% difference for transfer case/xi? If it's going to effect driveability than I will just run the OEM sizes..

The floating sensation comes when the tire is too wide for the rim. It creates loss of steering response as well. You need to be within a 2% difference. We have done thousands of XIs with 235/35 and 265/30 with no issues.

275/35/18 on a 8.5" wide wheels is too much.

so what you're saying is that 265/35/18 tire would fit and perform as it should on a stock 8.5" wheel?
