Crimson Red paint chipping
I brought my '08 335 in to the dealer today for an oil change and asked them to look at some unexplained paint peelings on the door and hood of my car. There are several spots about the size of a quarter where the top layer of paint has chipped off. The manager looked at it and asked me if I was the original owner and if it had been repainted. I told him I was the only owner and it had not been repainted. He acted rather skeptical and said "I've never seen that on a BMW before". He then took pictures and said he would call me next week once he arranged for someone higher up to look at it. Has anyone ever seen this problem on a 3 1/2 y.o. BMW? I'm wondering if it's a problem related to the red paint which is not very common.

Post up some pictures so we all can take a look at it. You may be on to something though, my gf has a red z4 as her second car and it is chipping/peeling as well in certain areas...

Yes, Please post pix.
I am the 2nd owner of a crimson red 2008 335xi and the only issues so far are some paint chips one the hood the previous owner got while driving on the highways. |

I'm getting paint chips on my BSM 135i on the hood and it only has 2kmiles. I also have one on my 335i with 19kmiles. Such a buzz kill.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Unfortunately, this site has changed their photo attachment process since the last time I used it 3 years ago and I guess I'm not computer savvy enough to figure it out. What can I say, I'm a (semi) old fart.

Sorry for not reporting back on this sooner...After some hassling with the dealership, they had someone from Corporate check out my car and they finally arranged to have the affected areas repainted. Looks great!
