Gift Idea: A day at the track - but how?
all right tracking gurus, i have a question, and its just an idea...
A family member has a birthday coming up in two months. he owns a garage queen SL55 AMG. Hes always said how much fun it would be to take the car where it could really stretch its legs... it dawned on me that my family could all pitch in to get him 'a day at the track' with a professional instructor and a some time on the pavement. I know he would really appreciate the time with a professional in his own car. im not even sure where to start digging around, someplace closest to central jersey would be good. any ideas where i can start or people i can contact?

Very Expensive! But try http://monticellomotorclub.com/ ... Just sent a very important client there for a day and he has not stopped thanking me. It was expensive but I have a feeling he isn't going anywhere for a long time.

much thanks, that website was a great start!
while $1600 is steep its a start as far as searching around, many thanks. Might look into that more if i cant find information on more local or less expensive alternates.

just sign up at any local track event. see my other thread i posted in this section, i listed the few remaining events in our area. worst case you pay the event registration + non-member fee. they range anywhere from $3-500, 1-2 days, etc.

Check out Trackmasters.com. They do weekend driving schools a few weekends per year up at Watkins Glen. Maybe a bit far from NJ, but well worth a weekend trip in my opinion - especially if you get some buddies to join you.

You'll probably have to sneak his car out for a track day inspection prior to the HPDE.
