Spare Tyre/Wheel
Hi, has anyone tried HSV/Holden space savers on their e90s (325i in particular)? I have heard that they will fit will will require grinding to fit properly. What does that involve?
Any other options that can be procured at a reasonable price locally? I am aware of the genuine BMW Kit from Schmeidmann in Denmark but don't really want to spend $700+. Any cheap and workable local solutions? |

i've got the BMW Mobility Kit but this does look significantly easier to use. The BMW Kit required you to much around with dissasembling the valve and them moving the car back and forth to seal the puncture.

I bought my two Slime kits (as pictured) from Repco at Sutherland - last April I paid $60 but this March $80. A spare @rsehole always comes in handy.

There are companies such as below that allow you to buy products in the US and will then forward them onto you. Have a look around this is one of the first results from google.

I have one I bought some time ago, a new space saver alloy spare from an HSV commodore. It doesn't fit over the brake calipers on my 335i, but will fit the 325 I am told. Yours for $30 plus shipping if you're interested.

Personally I think that ship has sailed. For one, anyone with a 335 has no spare and I more than happy with either run flats or slime. If I was going bush.....well I wouldn't take the 335.

I'm with you on that..... That's why I have a prado....
By the way.... have used my 4wd ARB plug kit on my runflats...... Lasted the remainder of the tyre life (15,000 ks)..... I run Michelin PSS now I had two punctures in my runflats whilst I lived in Melbourne...... Both were screws from construction sites around where I lived....... In both cases the tire warning system went off when there was about 20-22psi left..... Last edited by Noelpolar; 09-22-2011 at 05:51 AM.. |

I had the dealer throw in the mobility kit in the event I move away from the run flats. I also took out the three year rim and tyre insurance. I do like the sound of the plug kit as any puncture I've had have all been repairable in the past as they have only been from nails etc...

Well mine saved my bacon a couple of months ago. Right hand rear puncture on a saturday and used the mobility kit to get me going. Space saver spare was at the office cause I needed the space in the boot that week. Picked it up on Sunday and just left it in the boot. Went to airport on Monday morning and parked the car for three days and when I got back, the left hand rear was flat. just tried to inflate and it wouldn't hold air for more than 1Klm. Fitted the space saver and finally got home. Two new rears the next day.

My only real concern is a chap downstairs from work snapped a rim around the corner from the office and I am afraid no mobility kit is gonna help in that situation but then again thats why we have roadside help so i figure i am still covered |
