Laser is much more common. Get a laser jammer for sure!

If you buy a laser jammer don't waste money on anything except the LASER INTERCEPTOR.

I had it on my 335 and had it tested and it works very well.

BMW's are hard to jam laser guns because of the big headlights that curve to the size. An angle shot of the side headlight will get through most of the time even with a good jammer.

Its a tough call as to if its worth buying but my advise is get a solid radar detector such as V1 or 9500ix (my personnel favorite as it cancels false alarms) and use a RABBIT (someone ahead driving faster then you)

You never want to be the fastest on the road.

I know its hard but otherwise your very susceptible to a ticket.

Good luck out there.

i usually try to do that, my theory is that as long as you going slower than the person in front of you should be fine but when you on a road alone you kind of screwed, my old cobra radar detector rarely detected cops but those stupid electronic speed sign or cars with blind spot detectors instead which is why i was looking to upgrade

the v1 is really good i feel 100% safe when i know radar is in use its saved me countless times going up to vt or driving upstate. i have had it pick up laser hits just as many times but i tend to drive normal speed around long island because they all do use laser and if they get you they've got you then obviously

it has however saved me once against laser. i was going rather fast keeping up with another car on the expressway when i was lasered and saw the cop parked up under the overpass and quickly hopped across to the exit ramp and disappeared.

State Troopers out on LI still use KA band from what I've seen. NYPD highway patrol use Lidar. Unsure as to what Nassau and Suffolk highway patrol use. Best bet is to not speed. Honestly, the v1 is great, but it won't save you against laser.

The Best Radar detector is your eyes.
There is always someone ahead. If you see cars ahead of you braking then you slow down.

I had a lot of close calls, but when i see the cops i slam on the brakes and make sure not to pass the car on my right and it has never failed me thus far.

I had a radar detector and i was relying on it and in 2 weeks i got 3 tickets and threw it out the window. that was several years ago and ticket free ever since.

A radar detector whether it be a cobra or a V1 is pretty much useless on Long Island as they will not pick up on SCPD, NCPD, or Sherrifs. The only thing they pick up on the island is troopers.

So that leaves the only useful spot for a radar detector on long island is the parkways.

Save your money. Get jammers.

Agreed 100%.

The state troopers I always see in LI on the SSP or Meadowbrook are usually using radar and can pick up Ka with my 9500ix; however on the LIE with the sheriff's and suffolk/nassau highway patrol; my Ka has barely ever gone off.

As far as NYPD highway patrol; most of them use laser or sight honestly..i've driven by plenty of them with nothing on my radar going off, but every now and then i do pick up Ka from them
