Baja Racing in PA - My experience
Earlier today I went to Legendary Excursions Baja PA and had the opportunity to drive a Baja 1000 car through a dirt course.
My ride To sum it up. AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGG The whole experience was very well organized. My friend and I arrived at 9AM for the first run of the day. After some quick paperwork, we were taken around the 5 mile course by an instructor and showen the line, things to watch out for, places where others have crashed, and how to drift the corners. We were then briefed on the vehicles themselves. 200bhp, subaru engines, 2800lbs. No windshield = super wet and muddy inside. The video barely does the experience justice, especially showing just how muddy we got. Once we got on the course it was pure exhilaration. Your strapped into a Baja racer, trees are twenty inches to your left, cliff is four feet to your right, hills are stupid high, and boulders are everywhere. You can barely see because the mud is in your face, your body is freezing cold because of the wind + water, and there is a pheasant in your road and you can't bother slowing down. After one lap I had the corners mostly memorized. The difficult part was having the balls to find the limit when there are potholes and boulders everywhere. Driving a BMW taught me to avoid these objects at all costs. Baja racing requires the driver to forget that instinct and utilize various boulder and pothole formations as traction through portions of the track. Whatever. By the second lap I remembered I bought the extra insurance (get this if you want to drive the racer like you stole it) and I went to test out the limit of this sucker. The final scene in the youtube video shows what happened. No worries. The tree was ok. No trees or pheasants were harmed in the making of this video. Do you have a favorite pair of pants and/or driving shoes? DON'T WEAR THEM. Mine are ruined. Bring an extra change of clothes. Including underwear. For those who want to check this place out: Link: http://legendaryexcursions.com/index...nsylvania.html I went on a GroupOn deal. $200 for 25 miles/5laps. Link to my video Video: |
