License Plate holder removal, but has drill holes!!!

I got my BMW in NJ and of course this state has to have a license plate in the front but iam planning to remove the plate holder...I've read on threads that it leaves 2 holes.

People have used bumperplugs but what are some good painted ones??

and is there any alternative??

Fill it in with some plugs from home depot and touch up paint over it.
Bumper Plugs look corny

I had a body shop fill and repaint the front bumper. Cost me $150 but looks like new!

Put a plug in the hole and leave a small indent so you can put touch up paint in it. Wet sand, then put clear coat on. Then wet sand again and polish/seal/wax.

I really wish I was this handy. I'd be terrified of sanding anything on my car.

Any suggestions on how to learn before risking one's own car?

Get a piece of MDF wood. Use a fine sand paper (like 300 grit) to rough up the surface, clean, dry, and prime.

Let the primer dry, then wet sand with something like 500 grit using a 20/80 soap/water mix. Clean, dry, and spray with the color of your choice. I would do black (or any dark color) because it's easier to see swirls/sanding marks.

Do a few, light coats.

Then spray clear. Again light coats.

Be patient and let it dry properly in between coats.

I would let the panel dry for a week before doing any work to it.

You can also try and source a scrap fender from a junk yard or something.

Ok, on to wet sanding. You'll need various wet sanding papers and a sanding block. Not a hard wooden block, a semi rigid, foam, sanding block.

1) Don't EVER wet sand in circles. Do vertical or horizontal motions.

2) Let the paper do the work. Apply light pressure.

3) Keep your surface wet at all times. Soak the sand paper ahead of time....say 20 minutes at least. Overnight is best.

Depending on what you want to do, work your way up from a fine grit to a really fine grit. Maybe start with 1000 grit and finish up with 1500-2000 grit. You can even go up to 3000 grit if you want.

Now here is where a rotary polisher will come in handy. Use an abrasive polish and polish away, working up to the finest polish you can get. Again let the pad and polish do the work, apply light pressure. You can hand polish but you'll need to use alot of elbow grease. It will also be harder to get an even polish. If you do hand polish, try to apply pressure as evenly as possible.

I normally use Mezerna Power Gloss or Power Finish. Then seal and wax.

Then finish up with a sealant and/or wax.

I would suggest going to youtube and watching some videos on wet sanding. That will help a ton. That's how I learned.

I had the same issue on mine. The car is black so you could barely see the holes.. I just left them open
