Helmets

For those of you that autocross or do track events, where did you get your helmets? Is there some place local that sells autocross/racing supplies?

I would think any motorcycle helmet would work, those are the ones i usually use. You can pick them up at any motorcycle shop, dealership, cycle accessory store, etc..

I should have stated that I was looking to pick up an SA helmet, just to cover my bases. If I can't find one, I may end up just getting a motorcycle helmet.

is that what is required for the course? I have not been to a course that required SA helmets, just usally use my motorcycle helmet, must be a great course.

You can always buy online if you know your size:

BMWCCA only requires M helmets. But, IIRC, some SCCA events require SA helmets.

I don't know my size is the problem. I've never worn a motorcycle helmet before, and when I've done autocross in the past, I always shared one of the club helmets.

Thanks for that link. They're cheaper than the other online place I was looking.

you might want to go to a local motorcycle shop and try on a few helmets, just so you get an idea of what size you might need, GL

If you are into road course racing, then definitely get a SA helmet. Don't just settle for a M.

Dleo's idea is good, try the M helmets at a motocycle place, that will give you the size reference to purchase a SA helmet.

Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it.

If nothing else, trying on the motorcycle helmets should tell me if there are certain companies' helmets that just don't fit right, and I should stay away from.
