Driving with Front Bumper Off?
Hey all,
New M3 Rep Front bumper should be ready tomorrow!! Just wondering since I don't have a truck... Are there any problems with driving about 20 miles without a front bumper off, if I took it off and left it in my garage? It would be freeway driving ~ 50-60 mph. |

I dont see the problem with it. A cop will stop you just because they will think its illegal but they are called bumper covers for a reason....they arent actually a structural part so I dont see the problem. There may be a law saying you cant.
I dont think you will do any harm at all to the vehicle though. |

Unless some rocks/debris/rubble gets flung at you and dents your intercooler, there shouldnt be a problem. Just go slow.

You'll be ok. The crash bar behind the bumper is what saves your life. Any shit on the freeway that would cause significant damage to the parts behind the bumper cover will for sure Fuck the hell out of a flimsy polyeurethane bumper cover anyways.

Yea except the point isn't about protecting the bumper - the bumper is there to protect damage done to those more important parts like the intercooler.

haha so i don't think I will have any problems with that. I was more concerned about the rubber wheel liner not having anything to screw on to.. don't want it flopping into my wheels and getting messed up |

The wind will blow it against your wheels.... tie a string through the screw holes in the fender liner and tie it up against something to keep it from rubbing against your tires.
