Valve Carbon Build Up Solution?

Some of you might be familiar with BG 44K. The same company has a Direct Injection Cleaner Service. It is a two-part chemical process formulated to quickly soften and disperse baked-on deposits which accumulate on the intake valves of direct-injected engines.

Product: half way down http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair2.html
Where to find a shop: http://www.bgfindashop.com/locator/index.php

Look for the shops that offer fuel/air service.

I am going to give this a try with my local shop and update. I will try take pics before and after.

I have a 2007 335i with 70k miles. Used 0-30 Castrol European blend after 50,000 miles.

BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner is great have used in many cars including my BMW..its good for fuel injector/system cleaning ..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0232&viewitem=

I have not used any of their induction cleaners..IMO induction cleaners such as BG and seafoam dont do a good job of cleaning the intake valves and you risk loosening up carbon deposits and having them sucked into your engine..risky..ur best bet is a proper manual clean

Isn't that the idea of seafoaming though? Suck in the fluids, loosen carbon and drive hard so youd burn and smoke them out of ur exhaust. How else would they advertise to remove the build up?

Here's a link to the car they have been testing for a few thousand miles (Taurus SHO, twin turbo DI)....could be hype, or a viable preventive maintenance option....they also have pics of the valves before and after the treatment.

BG 44k, Seafoam, Techron, any other magic fluid I pour in gas tank and or intake DOES NOT SOLVE carbon build up. Only manually scrubbing the valves really gets the crap off.
Not to say they may not do anything, but don't even expect a partially clean valve using them.

what damage do you think it causes if you burn it out? i posted in the other thread that i had the full in the manifold cleaning done on my b7 at an audi dealer than after at a private shop, i didnt think it would cause damage to burn it off?

Looks pretty good in their before/after photos:

but I know my cyls had a much higher amount of buildup compared to their before pic. Anyone know what the procedure is for applying their two step process?

The damage can result if a chunck of carbon is removed and gets lodged some where vital like a valve stem..that would be disastrous..if you read some of the other threads on this there are many who dont recommend induction treatments like seafoam or BG..I have never been a fan of "in a bottle fix"..but if you want to try it go for it..please update us on your results

Wait....so are you saying that the pictures they posted of before and after the BG44 is false? Granted our engines might have more build up then their 'before' pictures, so worse case scenario is that our 'after' pic/result would look like their 'before' picture, no?

I'm interested in this process because I think my car has some carbon build up as well. I just don't want to pay an arm and a leg for this service....even at an Indy shop.

TIA

Not saying that. Just saying I would not be too optimistic.
There was a thread on here somewhere where someone did the bg44k and got before/after pictures. They ended up cleaning the valves manually in the end iirc

This is on a VW (FSI motors seem to buildup worse/quicker than our cars).....maybe not an end all be all but, maybe viable preventive maintenance, then again could be hype
