need help from the tuning guru's

here's my dilemma, i want RB turbo's but i got a dinan stage 2 tune. first can i even run those turbo's with that tune? i know it'd be a waste probably since they'll only be at 13-14 psi. Second how hard is it to switch out an ecu on these cars? what i mean by this does it have EWS II or something of that sort. I know on my e36 i've switched out the ecu plenty of times and all i would have to do is align the ews and car would start. I'd like to get a different tune with the rb turbos but dont want a 2000 dinan tune to go to waste so would try to swap ecu's with someone. any help would be appreciated

I guess you could buy a second DME and get it reprogrammed. But honestly, it won't be a waste getting the car flashed back to stock. Virtually any of the major tune offerings drives better than the Dinan

I can speak because I've driven a car with the Dinan stage 2 tune. Definitely peppier than stock, but any of the major tunes (Procede, Jb4, Cobb) run circles around it.

Why would you get upgraded turbos to run them at 13-14 psi? Are you even FBO?

Step 1 - Get FBO + Meth first
Step 2 - Reflash DME and erase the Dinan
Step 3 - Buy a Piggy or wait for Cobb Stage 2 or ATR

If interested, you better get in line for the RB waiting list.

** You can still use the Dinan with the RB's, just won't be boosting over 14 psi. However, that 14 psi will pull stronger than any stock turbo could.

Solid Advice.

Well "just" 14psi on pump gas with RBs isn't really Mickey mouse power should be in the 430whp range which is what most stock turbo cars don't make even with 20psi meth and race gas..

Get a poggyback and see how you like it.
If not, its free to have dinan reflash the car since you already paid for it.

If you are making 14psi above 5500rpm, but I doubt Dinan is.

Dzenno, you ran std Cobb stg 1 with RBs right? any issues with WG control, throttle closing?

Plus there's a 30 day money back for the piggies( procede and JB)....so you really have nothing to lose IMO.

Assuming you are in Kitchener, ON then you are sorta local to me. You can always grab a JB4 and see how it feels. The JB4 can be put on the car with Dinan in place. Your JB4 map0 will be dinan, and the JB4 map1/map2 will be the JB4. Easy comparison if you want to see the difference.

As for getting new turbos you will definitely want something that can boost into the 17+ PSI range and there is no point getting the turbos if you aren't going to raise the boost. Especially with Dinan as they taper boost in the high RPM like crazy and thats where the RB tubes shine.

As mentioned here meth is also a great addition. It really sounds like you need to eventually ditch the Dinan and go with a more powerful tune.
