It has been a crazy week for qualifying. The top 11 qualifiers have better times than the previous Runoffs record!! So 11 cars have beaten the previous track record which is un-heard of. We are currently 11th on the grid with a 2:30.3 out of 26 cars. Below is a link of Kris's fastest qualifying lap of the week. Without the car in front of him, the time could have been a little better. The race is Sunday at 11am and will be at Road America. You can also watch the race live at www.speedcasttv.com

Not criticizing but can someone explain why the driver is so jerky with the wheel? Sometimes he is shaking the wheel while approaching a turn and then cranks into the turn like an on/off switch.
Just curious.

It depends on how the car feels, what it is doing, and what you want the car to do. Sometimes the car could be understeering so he uses the movements to get the car going in the right direction., also you can use it to scrub off speed in certain areas. The E46 M3 likes to rotate and he can use the wheel to do this too. There is many different driving styles, with his being a little more aggressive and he likes to hang the back end out a little.
Another thing is this car races in a spec class. So we are limited to what mods we can do if any. All the bushings are stock and the ride height is not adjustable. Fine tuning is tough to do with limited adjustments. To add the speed difference compared to an average HPDE to a club racer or professional. |
