How hot your L7 amp gets?
i actually bought a new one and just arrived yesterday, installed it and works great. The previous one (original) had dead fans which i found out when i found out some of the speakers were not working.
the new amp working good, i hear and see the fans running but i am worried too much heat will kill another amp. is there anyway to add more ventilation to keep the amp cooler? is your amp getting pretty hot too?

I suppose you could wire up a 12V fan to turn on when the car turns on if it would make you feel better. "Overkill" would be hooking up a 12V liquid cooling system used in high end gaming computers. But they get warm no doubt.

thanks rollinstone157, i might just tap in and wire a little fan there. its just gets too hot here summer time. i guess even if i can circulate the hot air around it is a plus.

I took the cover off mine for my own belief that it doesn't get any air...just because it has two fans that move hot ass air around in alittle space doesn't mean it's actually getting "cool"

i have been keeping the cover off since i got the replacement amp. original one was cooked, fans are not working now but the amp was working with the exception of rear door speakers and underseat subs.
but, if i was to take it off and let it cool and plug it back in it was working and still is. something i did not want to mess with. overheat and possibly cause more damage than i can afford...

I would leave the cover on (I assume you're talking about the metal heat-sink?) simply because that is designed to help direct heat away from the amp. Adding another fan and keeping the original heatsink in place should help though.

i agree, i was talking about the plastic cover in the trunk. since there is nothing there to harm it i just leave it open.
well, you can see the amp anytime you open the trunk but who cares, i dont know if anyone has had any kind of modification for this purpose>
