Your SZL module (steering wheel angle sensor) needs to be replaced. Dealer charges $1300 if out of warranty. They also need to reprogam the DME. Had mine go out at 51K miles (brake light, DTC, ABS) the problem started with random lights that would go away, eventually they stayed on for good and I had it fixed. This could potentially be dangerous guys, the angle sensor will sense if the car is in a roll and can disconnect the battery relay.

I'm hoping its just a dirty wheel speed sensor... The lights seem to go away when it's wet out. Havn't tried to trouble shoot anything yet though.

There's a DIY in the DIY section that may help you out, however, I think it involves opening the steering wheel and messing with the ribbon tape inside there.

I've had this behavior before just from a marginal battery. Your '07 battery may just need to be replaced. In addition to that behavior, mine got to the point where the volume on the radio would go out and I would get voltage errors on the sunroof once in a while.

Put in a good battery and it all went away.

Just checked that DIY out (here)... Similar problem to mine although my adaptive headlights and auto-blinkers work fine with the DTC/ABS/BRAKE lights on.. Also looks like people with the steering sensor malfunction aren't getting the ABS light. My guess is that my problem (and possibly the OP's) is either dirty wheel speed sensors, faulty speed sensors, or the DTC module... Why the hell would the problem go away in wet conditions? That's what gets me... makes me think its just time for a cleaning, although if they are magnetic sensors I'm not sure how that would help much.

Really?? That would be nice if that's all it is. Any way to test the battery to see if its life is almost over?

Using the Cobb AP there are no codes being thrown.

I'm at work so no access to the Bentley Manual. If you have it then they specify various battery and alternator tests.

If based on the production date on your car, you are coming up on 5 years old, it may be worthwhile to replace the battery now anyway.

Tischer BMW is local to me and I can get a new one for <$200 and then register it with the BT tool. You should call your local BMW parts dept to see what it would cost to pick one up. Install it yourself and if you don't have a BT tool, see if someone in the regional forum will allow you to use their BT tool.

Yeah come to think of it I was in the trunk the other day and noticed the "magic eye" was no longer green, it was black... "Insufficient Charge"...I'll check the Bentley when I get home. Thanks for the heads up.

Zasquatch,

Sounds like you have an identical problem to what I had....same error lights + my blinkers didn't work either. Started off intermittent then finally was full out on all the time. I would get it looked at, hopefully it's only the battery, but for me turned out to be the SZL

*Edit - I could clear with the BT tool but they would pop back up.

Yeah I'm hoping that's not the case if it is I'll be doing some soldering... I have the 3 lights intermittent and when they are on, no abs, no hill assist, no dtc, no cruise... Blinkers work fine, which is why I'm hesitant to point the finger at the SZL, but with my luck that will be the problem.

Lights randomly turned off again this morning... Did a log with the AP to see battery voltage. Minimum was down near 12.2V, max 14.1V, average around 13.7V.

Does anyone have a log laying around that they could check their values to compare?
