Wastegate Rattle?? w/ Procede (lazy post)
There’s a lot of wastegate information on the forum of course, but I have never really researched due to no apparent issue. Now the search is a little overwhelming. My questions:
Recently I installed DPs and now I can hear a slight (maybe not so slight) rattle. Since I can hear it after the install, I assume it’s coming from the actual flapper and NOT the linkage. What is the most common wastegate noise issue? I have procede and it seems like the rattle drastically decreases when the car is warm… but not 100% sure. With procede will the wastegate position be stock(open) until the car warms up and then the 60% WGDC during cruise, idle? If the flapper is making the noise, should it be more prevalent in the closed or open position… or doesn’t matter? Thought I’d try the easy non-search route first… everyone else does. EDIT: definitely decreases drastically (almost none) when warm... so I guess my flapper rattles when in the open position, assuming the procede keeps stock position until oil temps warms up. In my 335i rattle is present only when clima is on, transmission in Neutral position and engine is cold (around 700rpm)
Also present during decelerations. Wgate position in procede user interface is set to 91%
