Pre-Tune Car maintenance?

So I was just wondering about some things you can do for your car before you get tuned that can possibly yield better results, hp/tq wise? or does it matter?

I just recently got my updates/recalls done and so they changed injectors and hpfp to 446 and software. So, I should be good there... my main concern is my oil.

Apparently, they didnt do an oil change while I was there last time, and according to my car computer, it says i'm do for a service in about 1500 mi.

I'm guessing my oil definitely needs to be changed because last week during some longer than usual driving (about 40-50 miles) i received this error:

and after some research, i figured out it was telling me to add a quart of oil? Well, I added a quart of oil (Castrol Full Synthetic 5w-30 from wal-mart lol) and the car hasn't given me the code again, however i haven't done a drive like that either, but I feel like I should be good.

this incident, however, makes me wonder whether i should get an oil change done before I tune my car, but not sure if it will make any difference? Anyone have any experience with dealerships doing early oil changes? I'm about 1500 miles from my next service according to my computer, but I dont plan on driving that much for awhile and do plan on getting a tune before then... Any Advice? thanks!

Sparks and oil. I think you bought the wrong oil. You should buy the "European Blend" from Castrol as this is the one that is BMW LL. Walmart doesn't carry it but I think your local Autozone will have it.

Do all the recommended maint. at half the intervals suggested. I have changed oil every 7,500 miles, and I did the plugs at 25,000. Recently changed the differential oil with just over 26.000 on the car. Next up will be to flush the coolant.

Wrong oil? really? hmmm maybe this will be enough for me to convince my dealership to change it early haha have free maintenance until decemember so trying to get the most out of it xP

oh and p.s. my car only has 20,000 miles on it... is replacing the spark plugs still worth it?
