3100 and 2ABC codes after Vishnu meth install-Please Help!!
So here is the deal. Car is a 08 335xi sedan E90
I recently installed a Vishnu Tuning meth kit. Since install I have a 3100 and 2ABC code. I have talked to Shiv multiple times with not luck in a fix. I have tried every thing he has suggested. I cannot get these codes to clear. I replaced my MAP sensor, did not help. Checked MAP connector for continuity to the DME and everything was ok. Check for proper voltage at the MAP connector and everything was ok. Not sure where else to go. At this point the Procede has been removed and I still cannot get the codes to clear. I might have to take the car to the dealer and see if they will help troubleshoot my MAP codes and overlook all my other mods. The car is completely built with new turbos on their way. I was very reluctant to run meth, my gut feelings might have been correct. I have not been able to run the car since the kit was installed. The cars has been dead for 2 weeks! Any suggestions? thanks |

did you say you replaced the MAP sensor or did you simply check it with a voltmeter? Being that it comes off during the PWM meth kit install process as it needs to come off the stock charge pipe, possible you damaged it, especially since you already indicated you pulled the tune. Pull it all out and dealer it.
BTW - meth kits when running properly are amazing. Hope you get it all sorted out.

I replaced it with a new one. Unfortunately I can't take it all out. Large intercooler required bumper support cutting. Just too much to remove!

You're still throwing the code with the Procede removed? Stupid question, did you reconnect the power spade after pulling the tune?
Here is the 2ABC code description: 2ABC: 2ABC Charging pressure sensor, electrical EXPLANATION: ECU lost connection with tune. Unplugging map sensor or tune with ECU awake will cause this. As will various other tuning related problems. FIX: Clear code. If it comes back, check tune related wiring and consult with tuner.

Yes the power is connected. Per Shiv I removed the piggy back connectors but left power connected since it is tapped and not as easy. He told me that it shouldn't make a difference. I can't clear the code. I am using a BT and it won't clear. I might have unplugged the MAP sensor during meth kit install. Don't think so.

I suspect you shorted something when you were doing your install. I highly recommend that you have someone check your work BEFORE you have the dealer replace the DME. If the short is still present, or you reapply the short when you reinstall your Procede, you'll have fried your second DME.
My PWM kit has been in place for a couple of days. Things have been absolutely flawless. I think you'll love the result, but you'd do well do have someone else do your electrical, and possibly your mechanical, work from now on.

Why are dealers so quick to say the dme is fried lately? I must have read within the last two weeks at least 3-4 people say dealer has to replace the dme. This has to be a joke of somekind. Very weird to say the least

OP, be sure to search for another user who got the same diagnosis from BMW but it ended up being a fuse that he replaced on his own. There have to be upwards of 100k piggie installs between users on this board installing and re-installing them. This is the first that I've heard of someone frying their DME during the process. It wouldn't hurt to double check the fuses.

Exactly. That member's post saved my ass big time. Check those fuses...that was my issue after my botched pwm install. After I replaced the fuse, I installed the kit again but skipped that optional step of running my procede to the meth relay. It just seemed like one more thing that may keep the car from starting should it fail.

All fuses and relays have been checked. The dealer stands by their diagnosis. We spoke about the possibility of the DME not being bad, if that turns out to be the case I won't be charged.
@ skydive, I don't do my mechanical work and am fully capable of doing my own work. Some failed. We'll see on Tuesday when the new DME is installed. All pins back to DME have been rung out. The dealer is stuck. Updates to follow. |

Also the dealer is replacing all fuel injectors and a couple of relays under a campaign. They are in full support of all my mods just can't warranty a DME if needed.

Well the DME is shot. New DME in and all codes gone. Both Shiv and the dealer have no idea how this happened! Thank you Shiv and Robert for all your support! You are great!!

Great you got it fixed! I suspect a power surge shorted out your DME during the PWM meth install when you spliced into the power source. Sucks but at least you're up and running!

Thanks, I sent my Procede to Vishnu to have it check over to make sure it is ok before I re-install. I am going to upgrade to the newer version. I have a new turbo set up coming next week and with the meth I should be just over 500 awhp and 500 awtq. I will be posting dyno results in a couple of weeks.

Same position with some custom maps I have been writing, not sure how to code out this 2ABC code. Any suggestions?

How does a DME dry but the car still runs? I've got a code of 310B 2ABC and 2ABE that I can't figure out what I'm supposed to replace. As for the dealership just swapping DME's on the customers dime...that's the easy route. FRM3 control modules are common failures as well, but it's not "fried", it's basically stuck in a bootloop from a power failure and now they can be fixed with a reflash.
