could it be the Rim???

Ok so what they did to my car after the side fender accident was replace the "Left Tie Rod", Fender, Alignment.

I got my car back, and it drives great, BUT, i don't understand why when i drive at like 2-15mph and go straight and let go of the steering wheel, the steering wheel will go about 1-2 inches to the right and i have to relocate it to the left to center it. Now at high speed it doesn't do that, and it's not like the car pulls me to one side, but when the steering wheel goes one inch towards the right, the car follows a tad.

Now i remember the tech after the tie rod replacement(because it was bent) telling my my rim was bent and they aligned the car, it went straight. And yes it does go but at low speed if i let go of the steering wheel it goes right. Also if i'm breaking as it get's to the last 10-2mph it starts turning right again. Could a bent rim cause this?

I'm asking this because i'm planning on getting a set of new csl rims with tire this week http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57865, and i don't want to have this problem and tech telling me, the rims and tires are not compatible with my car. Also since my PROcede should be comming in this week, i was all to be ready.

Please let me know what you guys think?.. I have thursday off and plan on taking it to bmw, do you think it's the control bars? I was planning on swapping the front wheels and seeing if it pulls me to the left. And if it does than i KNOW it's the bent rim and i can go and buy the wheel with out a worry.

BTW i checked my tire pressure and it's all good.

Don't know brother. I'm not a mechanic nor have I experienced this. Let the dealership take a gander and make a true assessment of where you stand. Good luck.

dont think so... bent rim will cause vibration. Did they replace the tire? maybe front drivers side tire has more tread than others???

Otherwise, i'd say alignment. They need to realign the car or fix something else that is still bent with the suspension.

yeah? I mean the tire has a LITTLE bubble in it. But very minimum. They did realign it but it's still the same thing. What i'm going to try is reverse the left front with the front right, and drive it. I'm going to see if the car pulles me a little towards the opposite side that it is now, then i know for sure it's either the rim and/or tire. If not, then i'm going to have to set an appointment at BMW to get it checked out. Luckily i have a friend at infinity who is 3 minutes away from work, he told me he would gladdly change the left wheel/tire to the other side. I'm getting that done today. Even though it's a small half to one inch moving of the steering wheel it bothers me. And if it's the suspension, then no new rims. I'll have to sheel out 1 grand to get the part fixed.

They changed the tie rod because it was visably bent, i think i'll have to change the control bars as well.

If you have a bubble in your tire, you will need to replace the tire. That bubble will only get bigger. Good luck.

Yeah i know that, that's one of the reasons why i went looking for rim/tire this weekend. I found a spot and actually ready to buy it. BUT, i wanted to see if the tire/rim i have on now is causing the steering wheel going a little to the right.. Because if it is, then NO new rims and tires, and instead, new tire (1) and fix whatever is causing it. If it is the rim/tire i have on, then buy the new rims/tires and fogetabowdit....

what's some of the side effects of bubbles in tires anyway, aside from it getting bigger and bigger and then exploding

ahh I see...

besides eventually bursting... the bubble will cause your wheel to be out of balance (same as bent rim)... causes vibration.

Ok ok. Yeah i'm going to see today. I hope its the rim/tire i have on... Because if it is, i'm happy that it has nothing to do with the suspension and i can go and get my new CSL 18 staggered
