shorter drop links?

hi guys,

im looking to get a set of coillies for my 2006 e90 but have heard that you may require shorter drop links?

i have tried to search but there is limited info on these, also most kits dont have them as a package. Does any one have any info about these? is it necessary and to what extent have you lowered yours without - if you have?

pics would be very helpful.

thanks in advance!
