Brief Review of Transcend JetFlash600 USB Flash Drive
I just picked up a Transcend JetFlash600 32GB USB Flash drive. Got it off Amazon for $44.95 total. Extremely happy with it. It's supposed to be pretty fast with a read speed of up to 32MB/sec and write speed of 16MB/sec. The body is very short - height is 1.75 inches when plugged in, and therefore easily fits under the lid of my center console.
I have a 2011 with HK stereo, but no IDrive/NAV. Anyway, I installed 20+ GB of MP3 music on the Transcend. My computer is 7 yrs old and fairly slow, so downloading my music onto it took 28 minutes. However, when I plugged it into the 6FL USB port within my center console, it literally took less than 20 seconds for the HK stereo to fully load it and for me to then have access to all 20GB. So far, it is working great. Originally, I'd planned to just pick up a $39.95 Sandisk Cruzer 32GB.....you know, a good name brand so should be pretty decent, etc. I hadn't really thought much about read & write speeds, until I saw a lot of reviews complaining about how bloody slow the Cruzer was. Further, I found that Sandisk doesn't even reveal the read or write speeds for this drive. Anyway, I researched a little more, decided upon the Transcend, and am extremely happy.
