BMW Station for Apple iPhone™.
With the BMW Station, the Apple iPhone™ blends seamlessly into the cockpit of your BMW. Connecting to the audio system of the vehicle and charging your Apple iPhone in the BMW Station functions just as smoothly. In combination with the BMW Link app, the BMW Station reveals its full potential. Music and telephone calls use the sound quality of the vehicle’s loudspeakers. Speech quality benefits from a high-quality directional microphone and the automatic radio mute function. A concealed GPS aerial adds to the impressive features of the BMW Station. All the benefits at a glance:

That Pic is from either a x1 or x5. Does any one have a picture from the E9x (apart from the drawings from the installation guide) I'm dying to see how it looks...(i fear the worst..)

There is no doubt, the bezels that are on the other vehicles are prettier than the e9x bracket. However, this is huge capability for a very small price.
I do not have any images installed in e9x...until I do my own which will be about 2 months. FYI, the bracket (e9x) or bezels (other models) are a separate part number, expect to spend an additional $40 dollars plus for that. Last edited by taibanl; 08-27-2011 at 12:30 AM.. |

2) Its no uglier than any of the other iPhone car kits, ie TomTom, Magellan, Kensington, and it happens to integrate with cars like mine that lack the wiring for any better solution. |

I am assuming from an audio fidelity standpoint it is identical to my current set up. Dock connector -> aux, in which case the only volume is through the head unit. It does pair with the phone as a Bluetooth device but I am assuming (yes, assuming again) that this is only for the BT HFP and not A2DP. So only calls would go through BT. Open questions:

Dude suction cup iPhone holder mount ftw, haha. I have one that I bought for 30 bucks and it is awesome, except a good reason for me to get the bmw station is so that I don't have a aux cable dangling in the middle of my car and a charger cable dangling from my adapter. Looks terrible, and since the station offers a clean look, why not right?

Although the Kensington Dock connector to Aux+USB eliminates one cable. |

I am a "Maybe" on joining the purchase group. I'd like to understand if there is a way to keep the steering wheel controls working -- say, perhaps, if you don't use the BMW APP?

Does anyone have an actual picture of the cradle so we know actually what it is? The one for the x1 does not apply.

Trust me I've looked...no one's installed it yet. Imagine the cradle floating in front of your dash above the center vents. You will have to look at the instructions. I don't think it will look as good as the X1 but its not bad, especially since it's not blocking anything.
Its definitely much better than a proclip. |
