That Pic is from either a x1 or x5. Does any one have a picture from the E9x (apart from the drawings from the installation guide) I'm dying to see how it looks...(i fear the worst..)

Best regards

The install guide showed it being mounted just above the wood trim with two screws holding it in place behind the trim.

There is no doubt, the bezels that are on the other vehicles are prettier than the e9x bracket. However, this is huge capability for a very small price.

I do not have any images installed in e9x...until I do my own which will be about 2 months.

FYI, the bracket (e9x) or bezels (other models) are a separate part number, expect to spend an additional $40 dollars plus for that.

If so...add your name to the list! (i.e. cut and paste sir, you are number two)

In answer to your question in the other thread, it is available right now.

That thing is horribly ugly. I'm buying one just so Tom can decide how to mod it to make it look good.

1) I would love to have a better looking on. How soon till you get it modded? I suppose you could do a dash mod and add one of the bezels like for the F25.

2) Its no uglier than any of the other iPhone car kits, ie TomTom, Magellan, Kensington, and it happens to integrate with cars like mine that lack the wiring for any better solution.

Only available through europe (and may stay that way). If you search for the part number @ realoem, it only matches european cars.

Euroactive has offered to source it for us.

Yes, all aftermarket iPhone cradles are ugly. I'm wondering how this device handles volume...

Question

I would agree but if the alternative is an iPhone dangling from a cable in your center console, this is better. Additionally, its certainly better than my suction cup windshield mount.

I am assuming from an audio fidelity standpoint it is identical to my current set up. Dock connector -> aux, in which case the only volume is through the head unit.

It does pair with the phone as a Bluetooth device but I am assuming (yes, assuming again) that this is only for the BT HFP and not A2DP. So only calls would go through BT.

Open questions:

  1. Does it really...really work for cars with no MOST bus?
  2. Does it share any song data with the Head Unit (display wise)
  3. Does the steering wheel control work: Phone button? Track Skip?
  4. Is there any LimFac that prevents you from using apps other than BMW Link to output audio to the car (I doubt it).

Dude suction cup iPhone holder mount ftw, haha. I have one that I bought for 30 bucks and it is awesome, except a good reason for me to get the bmw station is so that I don't have a aux cable dangling in the middle of my car and a charger cable dangling from my adapter. Looks terrible, and since the station offers a clean look, why not right?

+1

Although the Kensington Dock connector to Aux+USB eliminates one cable.

Still Undetermined - but I think so

Seems no based on the guy who installed in X1
  3. Does the steering wheel control work: Phone button? Track Skip?
    NO

    Waiting for Clarification

I am a "Maybe" on joining the purchase group. I'd like to understand if there is a way to keep the steering wheel controls working -- say, perhaps, if you don't use the BMW APP?

Do you have 6FL? I'm not sure whether the controls would work with it or not, but I think not, only through the USB port.

Does anyone have an actual picture of the cradle so we know actually what it is? The one for the x1 does not apply.

Trust me I've looked...no one's installed it yet. Imagine the cradle floating in front of your dash above the center vents. You will have to look at the instructions. I don't think it will look as good as the X1 but its not bad, especially since it's not blocking anything.

Its definitely much better than a proclip.
