2006 325 vs 2007 328-Changes I Noticed!
I own a 2006 325i (non nav) w/step . My car has been in the shop for 5 days. My loaner is a 2007 328xi. Here are the changes I noticed (some info may be repeated from other threads):
HP-The increase in power is there. Very nice. Lighter-I think the steering feels lighter for some reason. I feel less confident around tight turns. (xi?) Exhaust-Nice "deeper" growl, but overall missing that Porshe humming sound like in the 325. Auto Dimming rearview mirror-New design with smaller clown nose and updated compass (new font and frameless). Font doesn't match the rest of the dash as well. Smaller clown nose is nice but if you have the alarm you can't see the flashing light as much. Power folding mirrors-Only open and close from the inside button on drivers door. The old design can be folded in by using the "key" in the drivers door and folded out by using the remote to unlock the car (in addition to the inside control) BMW ASSIST-new concerige update to screen. Shows data from last concerige info request (for example-phone number to a restaurant). Very cool. HVAC KNOBS-now have chrome trim Valet key and fob in glovebox are gone! That is all for now! Interesting observation regarding the exhaust note, but I'm pretty sure that your 325 is quicker than the x-drive equipped 328. Car & Driver got identical acceleration times with identically equipped mt 325/328. The ride height difference may also account for less confidence in the corners.

Is there any difference in the exhaust for sport package vs. non? My first E92 was non sport--and I hardly ever noticed the sound of the exhaust. My current E92 has the sport package and I tend to notice it a lot more. I have been curious about this for a few weeks now....

It dos sit lower to the ground due to the sport suspension How long did you have your first E92 ? The exhaust always seems to "breeak in " a bit and sounds better with milage

The first test they had with 330i they got 5.6 on bad pavement or something. They made it seem like it's that fast or will be faster. That number was never reproduced; the fastest they got is 5.9. So I dont agree with 325 and 328 being identical.

As for the steering feel, I'd say it was the X-Drive. I drove a 330i with X-Drive, and did not like the steering feel at all. Too light, and it felt too fluid or something. No road feel.

But yes, xi steering is on the numb side (compared to rwd). On center the steering is lighter, however as you turn the wheel more there isn't that much of a diff (from what I've experienced in 335i non-sport). Something to note...the 328i loaner I drove felt like it's steering was lighter all around than my car. Dunno why.

from driving both cars on a daily basis, the 328 is quicker, and faster (all things equal). I have access to several 325's and 328's. All the 328's are quicker.
